What is Love ?

Love is a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection ("I love my mother") to pleasure ("I loved that meal"). It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment. It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection—"the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another". It may also describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans, one's self or animals.

Day 7 !! It' s been an interesting first week.  Pain comes and goes, I'm slowly reducing the  meds  to Paracetemol only day time and  take one of the  stronger ammunition  at night , but I  did wake up in agony last night dreaming that my foot was caught under a metal bar and I was trying to get it out but had to twist it to try and release it , when I woke up my elevated foot had fallen off its "perch " of 3 pilows and was lying sideways on the bed. Ouch

My pre op preparations have paid off, my garden is beginning to bloom , Clematis looking stunning ( well the bit I can see from the Window ), pots  I planted up last week are foaming into colour, my house is tidy and clean (thanks to the lovely Lisa)  my Trusty knee scooter is definately my bestest friend and my pre ordered FUEL FOOD from Select Stores Dalkey for 3 days this week and next  was the best laid  plan. The advice was " make life easier while you are laid up, make palns in advance " and thats what I did . I'm defintely  sure feelin the LOVE this past week ! There are flowers everywhere ( not a chocci Bikki in sight..."don't bring me chocolate or cakes or biscuits but empty my dishwasher or washing machine instead " ) and I'm being minded very very well. Family and friends checking in when Im on my own. Phone calls, whats Aps and Facebook Messages.  I really do feel "loved". Its nice. It makes everything a lot easier. Its a good feeling . Thanks.

My routine goes pretty much like this, and routine is important - Breakfast in Bed  delivered by Nurse Hubby ( big glass of lemon infused Warm water , fruit, Fage 0% Yoghurt with linseed, seeds and nuts), make way downstairs after wobbly crutch wash at basin and big decision over which shorts and T shirt to wear. Shorts are the best clothing to wear with a huge cast on your leg, less to go over the EXTREMELY sensitive and sore toes and easier for loo excursions than trousers or skirts. (Taking a shower was a bit of an experience yesterday, one I won't be repeating every day) Spend an hour on Green couch, catch up on News, Read all the IT posts, Instagram, Facebook etc. Move to white leather sofa- Read  ( THE LIVES OF WOMEN by Christine Dwyer Hickey) for a while ( codeine makes you woozy so reading hasn't been easy until today as no More Codeine ,thanks ) , Ten minutes doing leg circles, arm range of movement and some chest openers...exhausted ! Lunch - , Have had company for lunch every day which is really nice, an hour of human interaction and catch up on the news of others, the lives of others outside my Camp, my camp of pillows, phone, laptop, glasses, knee scooter, books and meds which moves with me from upstairs to downstairs and from couch to couch. I move to other white sofa mid afternoon where I can see out the window to the driveway and beyoned into the Lives of Others, sort of. I can see the cars pasing my gateway or a friendly face approaching the driveway . But whats nicest is the colour of the Red Robin Shrubs, the Tetra Rose Blooms on the clematis that traverses the front of our house ( the bit I can see ) and the ever changing sky . There are Approximately 3 scootes to the bathroom throughout the day (Pilates has its benefits, excellent bladder control), reversing and parking my knee scooter with the same techinique as parking my car in Dalkey Main street.  ! I use every short opportunity on my scoots to do a few stretches, side bends, scapular isolations, the odd knee bend or leg lower and lift ( good leg obviously ) scapular protractions and retractions etc and have worked out  a few easy moves on my scooter for next week, hopefully, when I can sart moving a bit more, if the  pain has eased. I'm missing the movemet already and its scary how the body gets used to not much effort, lolling on the sofa/ bed all day, not doing much for ones self, ( jabba the Hut style ) very quickly  and how exhausting it is just scooting to the bathrom or getting from Couch A to Couch B. It would be very easy to just let the muscles get weaker and atrify and slide into a slithery sope of not making the effort to keep the body active.

Thats where the "Iron Granny Summer  2016 challenge' comes in.  Start with 5 mins today, 10 tomorrow, 15 the next.  Eat well Drink lots of lemon infused  water

"Life is amazing. And then its awful. And then its amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful its ordinary and mundane and routine. BREATHE in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and EXHALE during the ordinary. Thats just living heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazning, awful, ordinary life. And its breathtakingly beautiful.'   - LR Knost
